Therapy

Family therapy could involve one family member or multiple family members with the client in one session. It is a form of therapy that works with families to nurture change and development, facilitates change in familial dynamics, seeks to reduce distress and conflict among family members, and emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health. Benefits of family therapy include developing and maintaining healthy boundaries, fostering cohesion and communication among family members, promoting problem-solving through an understanding of family patterns and dynamics, building empathy and understanding, and reducing family conflict.

Many people seek family therapy for many reasons including domestic violence, depression, child's use of substances, divorce, financial hardship, parent conflict, grief and loss, adjustment issues, or traumatic experiences.

Many modalities of family therapy are available.
